"Everyone, at some point of life settles down in a home. The hard part is building a house of heart. A place not only to sleep, but also to dream in. A place to raise a family with love, a place not only to find shelter from the cold

but also a little corner of our own from where to admire the changing seasons; a place not simply for spending time, but where to feel joy for the rest of life."

Living

If our home is the representation of ourselves, the living room is the heart of the house, definitely the most important space, able to welcome our friends and us. Please be careful not to get carried away turning the room into a brand showcase, into a shooting session of a design magazine. Important pieces are good, as well as icons that made history, if we like them, but with the right balance and a touch of fun. We like contamination, we love playing with different elements in a relationship with each other, capable of transmitting energy and harmony: an antique piece of furniture, a Castiglioni floor lamp, an old print, a toy from our childhood. Lighting is a fundamental aspect, here more than ever. It gives quality to the environment and to our life and can help us make corners different with different functions: the living room area, the dining table, a space dedicated for studying.

Do you need to furnish your home? If you have got any doubts, please do it step by step, do not rush buying everything immediately: "furnishing" can and must be a gradual path. Furnishing means composing, adding, removing, moving. It takes time, it needs sensitivity. Changing your mind is not a sign of weakness, it means being aware that a change for the better is always possible. In all of us there is an evolution, our lives always change, they are modified, sometimes radically. Indeed, our domestic spaces must follow us, alike faithful partners: a house cannot and must not be the same for life. You will often understand later on which changes to make. Please, do not rush, take your necessary time, ask for help if you do not know how to start with, if you have doubts. A house is like a white canvas, let's paint it with our colors!

Bookcase and wall equipped

“A room without books is like a body without a soul”, Marco Tullio Cicero wrote some centuries ago.

The bookcase is a cornerstone of our homes: a space collecting many volumes, for the most regular readers, an exhibition space for fragments of our lives, for all of us. Choosing the right bookcase, if we want the one which best suits our needs, can be complex. We have an infinite number of options, both stylistically and in terms of materials, both in terms of geometry and concept. There are complete bookcases, modular bookcases, custom-made ones, differently finished, antique, contemporary, and so on. Where do we need to start from? In our opinion, the starting point are some questions we should always ask ourselves:

What kind of space will our bookcase receive?
What function will it have to immediately respond?
What function will it have to respond in the years to come?
What aesthetic and stylistic impact fits our home better?
Which part of the living room or home will it be put on?

If we know we are messy, let’s imagine closed parts that hide our existential chaos from others’ sight! If we are maniacs of hygiene, we’d better to rely on self-standing structures, raised from the ground and detached from the wall. If we think about changing our needs in a short term, let us rely on modifiable structures, preferably in modules. We invite you to pay your utmost attention to the choice of multi-function equipped walls, "rigid" by their nature. Often nice and balanced in rendering, they can be non-functional to the test of everyday life. For the most particular situations, with irregular and cramped spaces, or with specific functional needs, there is always a custom-made design, where everything is possible!

Coffee table

Generally speaking, we want to be as "laic" as possible in proposing ideas and solutions, but here we will confess our weakness: yes, for us the coffee table is still fundamental, despite having observed that in many houses there is a tendency to make it disappear.

We like to think about it as a further element of the house where exhibiting books - perhaps the most beautiful volumes to share with friends - where placing candles to be lit, where putting a couple of magazines and some memoirs of the most interesting journeys. And when we have guests, we keep a free corner where putting a nice tray and have a drink with the ones who love us!

Dining table

Round, square, oval, fixed, extendable, antique, contemporary, modern, wooden, glass. We could furtherly continue this list because the possibilities are almost endless. Let's think about it more before buying it or changing it. The table represents an element which is always present in our life: each house, every historical period, any culture at any latitude. It’s Iconic furniture with a strong impact on space, a convivial instrument with great importance.

Sitting around a table is not just a material act, it is also a symbolic gesture of sharing: food during dinner, ideas thinking about a new project, playing a game spending an evening with friends. The typological choice of a table is connected to our lifestyle, the stylistic choice to our taste, always in relation to the overall character of our home.

Chairs

Every house has chairs everywhere: at the entrance of the house, often with a decorative function, in the kitchen, in the living room, in the bedroom, in the study or in the library, in terraces and sometimes in bathrooms. Alike the table, even the chair is a piece of furniture that is part of our life, with a daily use. The market and design companies offer an infinite variety of solutions: in terms of materials, design and finishes. An important reflection on the seats, with particular focus on those around the living room table: these chairs will be designed to welcome us for a long time during our banquets. Comfort is the main factor, let's not forget it! Wherever our choice goes, we always test the seat and its backrest, considering whether or not to have the armrests.

We really like the re-use of family things. If you have old grandmother's chairs, we don't exclude that we could bring them back to new life, perhaps changing the style with a nice contemporary fabric that can communicate with the sofa and the materials of your home. The formal relationship between the living room table and chairs must be carefully thought of: the two pieces can belong to the same design style or come from different worlds. There are no foreclosures, if not the search for an overall harmony, that harmony capable of giving spatial quality to our home dimension.

Armchairs

An armchair is an iconic element in many houses and in the collective imaginary. That's where we sink down after a day's work, that's where we sit to read a book we are passionate of, perhaps with a nice comfortable pouf, and that's where we sip a cup of tea with our dearest friend sitting in front of us. Complement of the sofa, in pair, alone in a corner of our bedroom or our studio, we cannot imagine our home without a nice armchair. The armchair must be comfortable, good- quality and with a specific character. What is comfort? Let's look up in the Oxford dictionary: " the state of being physically relaxed and free from pain; the state of having a pleasant life, with everything that you need".

We totally agree. An armchair must help make our life pleasant and more comfortable, simply better. Let's try them, when we're about to buy one, let's sit down for a few minutes. Then let's get up and look at it: let's study the shape, the proportion, the finishes, the quality, the design, the materials. Imagine the area it will be placed on: how will it fit with the room? Which harmony will it have with the other pieces of furniture? What will be the most suitable color or covering in terms of aesthetics and durability? Remember that the most correct choice is always the result of an evaluation of multiple variables, we must not be in a hurry. And if you have an old armchair, before getting rid of it, we consider the chance of changing the covering to give it a second chance.

Sofa and cushions

Each house is a world of its own but there’s a piece of furniture which is really always present, the sofa. There is an infinite number of sofas, in terms of materials, colors, styles, finishes and geometries: linear sofas, L-shaped, to be matched with similar or different armchairs, with seats deeper or less deep, with backs taller or less tall. Even for this furniture, as for others, we confess our practical spirit: recommendation, especially if made in fabric, it should be removable and easy to clean! Imagine a beautiful white sofa that lies with its structure down on the floor. Well, let's make a prediction: at the first dinner one of your guests will sit down, cross his legs, touch the fabric with his shoes and make it dirty. We hope for you that it is at least removable!

For obsessive cleaners like us, the preference will go to those structures that stay raised from the ground, allowing an easier management of domestic cleaning. We do not feel like condemning the other types, however, which are sometimes in a real captivating design. The most important thing, regardless of the choice we make, is to be aware of the pros and cons. Another must-have for our sofas are the cushions: colorful or in solid colors, classic or contemporary, with geometric or more figurative patterns, similar or different from each other. We may also indulge ourselves, without losing sight of the overall aesthetic and chromatic balance.
